3d + 2d - Durga poster

Tej. Sept 21st 2008.

Durga puja is a popular Bengali festival, celebrated in the fall, recognizing the usual theme of victory over evil, represented by the mythic figure of the Goddess Durga, usually shown astride her symbol, the lion. In Hindu myth, she is a manifestation of divine energy or Shakti. She is shown with ten hands, holding different weapons given to her by Gods for her fight with a powerful Demon king. If you want to read more about the myth, just type in 'Durga' in Wikipedia.

I had created the Durga figure in Maya earlier. I created the lion figure in Maya as well, created and attached skeletons for each model, made sure the rigging of the skeleton with the model was good, posed both figures, took high resolution renders, then composited them in Photoshop, added more details, contrast and other effects. I also created a background, which is also borrowed from my work from last year.
